Two stylists from Hereford and Rothley in Leicestershire are the lucky winners of this year NHBF “Incredibles” competition, which is designed to inspire young and up-and-coming stylists.
- Lauren Horner, from Peter Prosser Hairdressing in Hereford, won Newcomer of the Year, which celebrates the creativity and talent of first year students.
- Yasmin Bush, of E’Lan Hair Design in Rothley, won the Future Generation category, which does the same for second and third year students.
Entrants had to submit a mood board outlining their inspiration for spring/summer 2016 hair and fashion trends. The finalists were then invited to an “inspiration day” with the award-winning Darren Bain, senior educator at HOB Academy, in Camden, London, where the winners were announced.
All the finalists had a chance to quiz Darren about his secrets for success in the industry, and had the honour of meeting four-times British Hairdresser of the Year Akin Konizi.
NHBF president Agnes Leonard said:
“Nurturing and celebrating up-and-coming young stylists is the life blood of success in our industry, and this year’s NHBF Incredibles day was a huge success.
“The quality of all the entries, and the sheer talent on show, was breath-taking and my congratulations go out to all this year’s entrants, whether you were a winner or not.
“But a special well done, of course, to Lauren and Yasmin. With talent such as theirs coming through, I am reassured our industry is in a great place for the future. I’ll watch their progress, and undoubted success, with great interest.”
