Amanda Linehan from Hot Trends in Gillingham, Kent and Evelina Janukenaite from Rory James Hair in Horsforth, Leeds have been announced as the two stylists shortlisted to win the Step Up & SHINE scholarship. They have both been invited to attend the Fellowship’s President’s Night taking place on 8 April 2019 for the announcement of the winner.
The NHBF and the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s Step Up & SHINE competition received entries from stylists of all levels who wanted to be in with a chance of winning the year-long £2,500 bespoke education and mentoring programme. The judges selected six finalists who were each interviewed at their salons by the judges before a decision on the two shortlisted stylists was made.
The six finalists were:
- Amanda Linehan, Hot Trend, Gillingham
- Evelina Janukenaite, Rory James Hair, Horsforth
- Kim Nicole, The Salon Owen & Torr, Anglesey
- Lewis Wilson, Wilson's Hairdressing, Macclesfield
- Bianca Jones, Oracle Hairdressing, Chippenham
- Bethany Somerset, Material, Bath
Entrants were required to complete an application form detailing their hairdressing background and ambitions and record a 60 second video on Instagram explaining why they would be the perfect person to win this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.Congratulations to Amanda and Evelina for making it this far

Step Up & SHINE was launched in association with the NHBF and the Fellowship for British Hairdressing, in honour of industry legend, Christofer Mann, to nurture passionate stylists from the UK who may not have access to quality training. Renowned industry expert, Debbie G will mentor the winner of this incredible scholarship to provide constant support and create a programme of courses designed to enhance the stylist’s career.
