The NHBF honours apprentice who received National Apprenticeship Award

During this year’s National Apprenticeship Week, the NHBF has recognised the success of award-winning apprentice, Charlotte Blowers, in the hope that others follow in her footsteps. Charlotte, who works for the Bradford based NHBF member salon, Exceed won the I-Can Qualifications Award for Intermediate Apprentice of the Year at the prestigious National Apprenticeship Awards.

Charlotte began her career at the Exceed salon in 2013 and has said that she would encourage others to enter an apprenticeship.

Charlotte said: “With apprenticeships you have the best of both worlds. You learn from professionals, meet real clients in a real workplace, gain real qualifications – all whilst getting paid to do so.”

The NHBF urges business owners to recruit hair & beauty apprentices

As the appreciation week recognising the positive impact apprenticeships have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy ends, the NHBF also continues to urge business owners to welcome school leavers to their salons and barbershops.

NHBF CEO, Hilary Hall comments: “Charlotte’s award emphasises the potential that so many hair and beauty apprentices have. We work hard to both encourage talented school leavers to enter our thriving industry and for business owners to continue to invest in apprentices.

Our hope is that apprentices become even more appealing when the new employer-developed "trailblazer" apprenticeships launches in May 2017. The new methods of training and assessment will ensure apprentices enter the world of work much more 'salon ready' by the time the first cohort completes their training in 2019."
