The National Hairdressers’ Federation is warning salon owners who have employees on zero hours contracts to check these do not contain exclusivity clauses.
It was announced by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills this week that contracts cannot contain exclusivity clauses which prevent employees from working elsewhere, even though the contract does not guarantee work or hours.
NHBF chief executive Hilary Hall said:
“Zero hours contracts are not really common place across our industry but if your salon does use them, it’s now important to check the small print and remove any exclusivity clauses”.
Employment contracts are one of the resources most requested by NHBF members. Changes to employment law means employers must keep their contracts up-to-date. The NHBF provides contracts for members free of charge, visit nhf.info to find out more.
