NHBF partners with the Green Salon Collective

The National Hair & Beauty Federation (NHBF) announces a collaboration with the Green Salon Collective (GSC) to promote and educate salon owner on issues such as recycling, energy efficiency/saving, and greening salons and barbershops.

The NHBF has been campaigning and lobbying the government on environmental issues and has partnered with key organisations to share simple, accessible, affordable and practical advice on greening salons. This latest collaboration with GSC is to help salons and barbershops work towards greater sustainability: going green is good for the planet.

Founded by environmental experts, hairdressers and eco campaigners, GSC is the authority for salons for recycling, educating and accreditation. GSC's main focus is finding circular solutions for salon waste. The three most common ways they handle salon waste are through recycling, recovery and composting. They use hair to clean up oil spills. They generate clean energy using discarded PPE. They even compost salon towels!

Education is also a big part of what GSC do. They help to empower their members and the broader industry with up-to-date and verifiable information related to all things sustainability to make better-informed decisions for salons continue to run and grow their businesses.

Beyond providing each of their members with starter kits, marketing material, next-day collections and ongoing support, GSC also offers to share useful education material on all matters regarding sustainability with the whole hairdressing industry.
