Nominations now Open: NHBF Top 100 Influencer 2025 returns

The National Hair & Beauty Federation (NHBF) is thrilled to announce a major evolution of its highly anticipated Top 100 Influencer Index. Now, in its fifth year, due to overwhelming demand and the incredible talent within the sector, the awards will be divided into two distinct categories: The Top 50 Hair Influencer Index and the Top 50 Beauty Influencer Index. As the NHBF Top 100 Influencer Index continue to grow, this separation ensures a greater focus on the achievements of professionals across both sectors, giving more recognition to the creators, educators, and trendsetters shaping the sector.

The NHBF Top 100 Influencer Index is open for entries and is open to all hair and beauty professionals working in the sector who meet the below criteria.

Women key to unlocking growth says Minister for Women and Equalities

Striking figures show that women could drive £125 billion of growth to the UK economy every year, as the Minister for Women and Equalities sets out plans to work with businesses to support women in the workplace.

The analysis shows that women’s equality and economic growth go hand in hand, with the UK economy growing by up to £125 billion every year with a 5% increase in employment among women.

According to government statistics, 87% of the hair and beauty workforce is female, with over 62.5% working as self-employed, and more than half are between the ages of 16-34.

NHBF will be submitting a response shortly to the House of Commons Women and Equalities Committee inquiry into female entrepreneurship raising concerns about the impact of the Autumn Budget measures on future sector growth.

The Low Pay Commission Regional Visits

The Low Pay Commission (LPC) is conducting regional visits in 2025 to gather first-hand evidence on the impact of the National Minimum Wage from individuals and employers. As an independent body that advises the Government, the LPC seeks to understand local economic conditions, employment outlook, and the effects of rising minimum wage on both employers and workers.

They invite participants to share their insights on the local economy, wage trends, and the future of the minimum wage. The evidence collected will inform the LPC's recommendations for minimum wage rates, with all information treated confidentially and anonymised where necessary.

Last year, the National Hair & Beauty Federation contributed to the LPC's report, advocating for any wage increases to happen gradually and be coupled with support for businesses hiring apprentices. For more information and to get involved in the regional visits including those in London on 15/16 April please, contact rosina.robson@nhbf.co.uk.
