Bank bumps base rate
The bank of England has increased the base rate by 0.5% to 1.75%, the biggest single rise in 27 years. The hike could significantly impact debt servicing and prices for salons and other small business owners.
Wales: Keeping your workforce safe
Coronavirus has not gone away and will remain with us globally. For this reason, it remains important for businesses, employers and event organisers to consider what they can do to reduce the spread of the virus.
By implementing public health control measures, businesses, employers and event organisers will help keep the spread of the virus low, improve consumer confidence and minimise the potential of further disruption.
The Public health guidance for employers, businesses and organisations: coronavirus guides how businesses, employers, organisations, activity and events organisers in Wales can reduce public health risks.
Energy Bill Support Scheme
Households will receive £400 towards their energy bills this winter, with payments made in 6 instalments from October. Energy suppliers will administer the discounts – those who pay for their energy via standard credit, payment card, and direct debit will receive an automatic deduction to their bills over the six months.

New guidance brings clarity on employment status for workers and businesses
The Government recently published updated guidance clarifying the status of employees, workers and self-employed people and the employment rights to which each are entitled.
The new Government guidance will act as a one-stop-shop for individuals and businesses to understand which employment rights apply to them. The guidance includes a checklist for assessing status and tables setting out the rights that follow.
