National Hairdressers’ Federation is encouraging salon owners to apply for this year’s Small Business Saturday’s, Small Biz 100 and become part of a network dedicated to all things small business.
Small Business Saturday takes place on Saturday 5th December and exists to support, inspire and promote small businesses. The Small Biz 100 are 100 businesses selected to feature at the fore front of the campaign, one a day for the 100 days leading up to Small Business Saturday. Applications have opened this week.
NHBF President Paul Curry said:
“Supporting small business and the high street is part of the NHBF ethos. We are encouraging salon owners to put their business forward for the Small Biz 100 because it’s a great opportunity to create a buzz in the salon and shout about your business.
“We love the high street and celebrating all things independent, clients don’t need to travel miles to have a unique high quality service and Small Biz 100 is about discovering many hidden gems in your local area.”
Salon owner and NHBF member, Barbara McNaughton was one of last year’s Small Biz 100 businesses and after hearing about this through a local MP decided to entre her salon, Elements Lifestyle in Surrey.
When discussing what this has meant for her business Barbara said:
“It gave us a chance to be part of a network of small businesses across the country that have been a great means of support for each other, as well as a fantastic source of information and inspiration. It put us in a national spotlight which was fabulous for an independent salon.
“We have been invited to take part in exciting events that support small businesses all over the country and we felt like we were part of an exciting nationwide movement. It also spurred us all to grow to be more successful as a team.”
Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-political, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.
Barbara continued “Definitely have a go, if nothing else, it makes you look at how you can engage with your team and the businesses around you and it's just really fun to be involved!”
