Nottinghamshire: beauty salons, nail bars and sun bed services to close from this Friday
The county of Nottinghamshire will move into Tier 3 just after midnight this Friday, 30 October 2020.
We are seeking urgent clarification following the news that:
- Beauty salons, nail bars and tanning salons must close.
- Hairdressers and barbershops can stay open.
We advise businesses to contact their local council on whether their business is affected.
Financial support packages for 2020/2021
The government’s financial support packages for businesses and the self-employed are being changed and amended as the coronavirus pandemic continues. Our blog post covers the latest information about the financial help available across the four nations.
Scotland: new five tier system of coronavirus restrictions
A new five-tier system of coronavirus restrictions will come into force in Scotland from 2 November 2020. The levels are zero to four.
‘Level 0’ is close to normality. Levels 1, 2 and 3 would require further restrictions and level 4 would be close to a full lockdown.
Effect on hair and beauty
The Scottish Government has set out how close contact services will be affected in each tier (see below).
We have asked the Scottish Government for further clarification on how mobile hairdressers, barbers and beauty therapists will be affected:
Level 0
Salons and barbershops can open.
Mobile close contact services are permitted.
Level 1
Salons and barbershops can open.
Mobile close contact services are permitted
Level 2
Salons and barbershops can open.
Mobile close contact services are not permitted
Level 3
Salons and barbershops can open, but additional protective measures may be required.
Mobile close contact services are not permitted
Level 4
Salons and barbershops must close.
Mobile close contact services are not permitted
