Award-winning salon CODE Hair Consultants of Oulton Broad, Lowestoft hosted a visit by local MP Peter Aldous as part of the National Apprenticeship Week celebrations from 4-8 March. In November 2018 Code Hair won the prestigious award Best independent Salon from the NHBF, the leading UK trade body for hair salons, barbershops and beauty salons.
Salon owner, Laura Bull, is a huge fan of apprentices and currently employs three in her salon. "Apprenticeships are a great way of developing young people. As well as mastering the craft of Hairdressing, they also learn social skills and how to communicate with clients."

Peter Aldous is also a keen supporter of further education and lifelong learning, as Vice Chair of an All Party Parliamentary Group on this topic. He said "I'm delighted that a salon in my constituency has not only won such a high accolade but is also committed to apprenticeships as a valued career path."
Peter Aldous and Laura Bull were joined by the NHBF's chief executive Hilary Hall. The three spent time talking about other issues which affect small businesses in the hair and beauty sector, including business rates, car parking and the high street.
